Project 1

Project 1: Gmail: New Discoveries

  • Overview - Color coding: Gmail color codes the borders of the different sections of your mailbox. An example of this is your 'All Mail' section being surrounded by a blue border while your 'Spam' section is surrounded by a grey border.
    - Labels: The labeling system in Gmail helps you organize your mail in a kind of folder type to help make it easier to navigate through your mailbox.
  • Labels
    - The labels again, are like folders for messages but better because you can add multiple labels to that one message so that you can really organize things the way you want. It is also color coded.
  • General Tabs
    - Personal Level Indicators: help you find out if the messages sent to you were only sent to you or others
    - Vacation Responder: automatically sends the message you pre-wrote to any messenger if the option is turned on
    - Keyboard Shortcuts: Helps you navigate your inbox and speeds up work flow
  • Using Chat in Gmail
    - You could use Google chat or Aim
  • Web Clips
    - For web clips, you can have little headings/previews of websites on top of your mailbox. You could choose which websites you could have previews of too.
  • Account Tab
    - In account tab, there is an option that allows you to send messages/mail from your account but with a different name. You could also link and retrieve mail from other accounts through this tab.
